Built during Vancouver's "golden years", the original Jeffs Residences is a testament to the Grandview-Woodlands area's prestigious history.
Hot on the heels of the Klondike gold strike, Vancouver enjoyed a measure of affluence and ease in the early 1900s. It was during this time that Grandview Hill, as it was then known, flourished. With its unobstructed mountain views and proximity to centres of trade and transport, the city's finest families built lavish estate homes in the neighbourhood. On of these citizens was Dr. Thomas William Jeffs—first a physician, then city alderman, and later, Vancouver police commissioner. The Jeffs home has stood at the corner of Salsbury and Charles since its completion in 1907.
